The Almighty created free-will man. THAT was gutsy.
HE KNEW what we'd do.
We love the blame-game; Genesis 3. Then fratricide; Genesis 4, etc. We killed God's prophets, then we killed Jesus. But nobody 'took His life'. Jesus laid it down. He loved us to death.
JESUS DIDN'T STAY DEAD. On the 3rd day, He rose, physically. He spent the next 40 days with his friends;then He went Home. He's coming back "like a thief in the night". Not to steal, but to save. Don't follow me; I get brain fog. Follow HIM. Check Him out; HE IS:
calm | "careless" | elegant | faithful | happy | kindred | optimistic | passionate | valiant | vulnerable

Remembering Bob's mom, Florence Ann Mulloy, September 14, 1924 --
Among many things, Mom taught us baseball. She was always the pitcher, until we got old enough to get it over the plate. She coached my brothers’s (Jim and Mark) teams that took 2nd place TWICE in the Sheboygan Little League. Pretty close to world champions!
Our lives are forever favored because she was/is…A CHAMPION…a quiet, yet royal ambassador of grace and truth. Named Florence Ann (meaning “flowering grace of God”), she decided early to choose Christ, and blossomed as a woman of grace. She was eminently fortunate to be born into a Catholic farm family. She learned early that the KING of Kings and LORD of Lords came to tiny earth to live and die for us, rather than live in Heaven without us.
Mom learned early that Christ rose from death on the 3rd day, forever showing that Life is stronger than death, Truth is stronger than lies, and Love is stronger than apathy/unlove.
Mom experienced a major health challenge in January 1977 that greatly affected her speech and walking. That was a very long winter, but Almighty God was working wonderfully in her heart and mind. On June 15th, she decided to memorize one of the most beloved songs of David: Psalm 23, which starts
“The Lord is my shepherd…”
At first, it took almost 30 seconds to say “…...the…...Lord…...is..….my…...shepherd.” That was hard, but she was determined to say those five words at least 3 times a day. She really worked at that. Soon she was saying those five words at normal speed. Within a month, she could perfectly quote all six verses of Psalm 23 at normal speed. Within three months…over 30 Bible verses. Within a year, she could perfectly quote over 100 Bible verses at normal speed.
At the same time, mom began reading God’s word every day. This reading turned to Bible study using her Saint Joseph Edition, both at home and in the Catholic Renew program. She loved the gospel of John, and the epistles of Paul to the churches in Ephesus and Rome. The Holy Spirit was healing her spirit, soul and body through His promises, including:
Jesus words to Martha in John chapter 11: “Whoever is alive and believes in Me will never die”; and
Words written by the apostle Paul, in chapter 6 to the church at Rome: “The wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”; and
And to the church in Ephesus: “…salvation is yours through faith. This is not your own doing, it is God’s gift; neither is it a reward for anything you have accomplished…”
Mom’s immortality didn’t start on October 29th at Progressive Care Center Sheboygan; she received that gift decades earlier. What happened on October 29th? She just went Home to the Lover of her soul. That ended her dress rehearsal, her beginning. She’s got her whole life ahead of her!!!
Oct. 29. I said 'goodnight' to mom last night at 9pm; seven hours later, at 4 a.m. today the 29th, she was in the presence of the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, the Lover of her soul. As a former Christ-hater (Saul of Tarsus) wrote after becoming Paul, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the LORD". Really? Really!!! It's WHO YOU KNOW. We know that. It's not religion; it's RELATIONSHIP. And mom had one with the One that died for her, rose again, and provided safe escort to the only Haven. Millions say "I believe in Jesus". Cool. But does He believe in you? Does He believe and see that you have put pride aside and forever declared "O God, I'm a sinner and I need you. I killed Jesus because of my sin." IF that's your prayer today, then believe that the Lion and Lamb of Heaven would rather die naked on a cross for you, than to live forever without you.
Oct. 27 THANK you, dear friends, for your prayers as I drove from GA. to WI. about ten days ago, having heard a few days before then that my mom had entered hospice.
I was able to be at Eastbrook's missions conference a week ago, and see several of the world's finest Warriors. In addition, it was ALL PRIVILEGE for me to spend a few hours with the founders, pastor Marc and Nancy, in their home.
Am with mom a few hours at a time, taking my turn with siblings here in Sheboygan. Having come to Christ shortly after her stroke (44 years ago), she has been 'ready to go' Home since then. At age 95, she's really ready now. THANK God that Jesus rose from death, so that anyone else can too...trusting Him alone as Savior, Lord, Lover, forever.
Sept. 23 Mary Em and I saw the movie OVERCOMER yesterday. It was wonderful, and especially powerful for middle schoolers. ENJOY.
Sept. 18 THANKyou, everybody who prayed for our travels since Sept. 2. The LORD answered in marvelous ways, including NO DIZZINESS at any time during those 8 flights, and no panic before boarding, etc. I am so thankful for prayer warriors that 'carry' me over the clouds!
The highlights were many, too numerous to list now, but the TOP one was seeing mom on her 95th bday in Sheboygan. She is a true trophy of grace, and a phenomenal model of joy for me, and for many people. Despite physical challenges, she is chipper and reflects the love of Christ. Oh, to be like her at any age!
Thurs. Sept 5
Just writing to THANK YOU SO MUCH to friends who've prayed for me these past four days in the air and on the road. Though I haven't slept well since leaving Atlanta, neither have I experienced any dizziness, nausea, panic attacks, etc. before boarding those 4 flights. THANKyou. And I believe the LORD is using us to be a blessing to needy folks along the way. For example, Chris Newcomer had successfully heart surgery in Dallas yesterday. Other new friends that we've met that need prayer include:
1. an elderly brother in Albuquerque named Dwight who needs to sell his house before Oct. 1;
2. an elderly saint named Delores whom Mary and I met while walking today here in Portland. She lives alone, and 'falls' periodically. Needs to get some kind of monitor.
Sept. 2; 8.30pm; Dallas, TX. Having sent out an email from Atlanta last night, asking for prayer that: I would not experience vertigo today or a panic attack....prior to boarding our plane this a.m....God answered this way:
1. Though I didn't sleep well AT ALL, I felt fully rested when the alarm buzzed at 4.50a.m. And I have felt GREAT all day; no panic, no dizziness. THANK YOU, dear praying friends.
2. We're at the home tonite of Tom and Chris (Cowles) Newcomer. Praying for Chris as she faces heart surgery on Wednesday. God is going to do something extraordinary.
Aug. 31. Mary Em and I celebrated 32 yrs. of marriage on the 29th.
Then last night (Aug. 30) we sponsored a block party in our driveway to continue the celebration of God's goodness. 37 Renee Drive neighbors came, along with a handful of non-neighbors, from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Eritrea, as well as a dozen Latinos. We are most favored of all people !
Urgent prayer need: leaving tomor at 5.30 a.m. for two weeks of ministry 'on the road'. Not looking forward to all the plane 'ups n downs', but am ready and willing to do whatever in the Matchless name of the LORD Jesus Christ, KING of Kings and LORD of Lords. One day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that HE is LORD. Let's do it now so we won't look so clutsy when the big day comes!
July 22; WOW WOW WOW. Finally, I am able to use this website, thanks to a brilliant Rwandan friend who just got it going for me.
SO SO SO sorry for those of you who've checked this spot periodically, and found ZILCH news since November. Groan.
Our good, good Father, LORD of all life, has truly showered my family and me with countless graces in these 8 months of my 'website awol'. Where do I start to recap even a few highlights? At the moment, a song keeps coming back to me: "The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning, new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness, O LORD." This theme comes from the Old Testament book of Lamentations (espec. chapter 3:20-23), written by the 'weeping prophet', Jeremiah. He knew that his fellow citizens were experiencing myriads pains and stresses is their lives, and he saw many of those friends experience bitter consequences for bad choices; yet he wept for them. Jeremiah commended them to the mercy and grace of God. As followers of Christ, we need to do the same.
Nov. 13. PTL for carrying me these 47 years as His adopted child.
WARM (balmy, perfect warmness; NOT hot; And DRY Forever.
It must have rained every second yesterday, and ‘every yesterday’ for a year, it seems. BUT I hereby declare me to be the most favored person on earth. You ask: “Is Bob loco, wacko, or just plain conceito?
Answer: I’m warmed, held, and carried today by the Lover of my soul, the Owner of the sky, the Light of the world. It’s been that way these 47 years. Yup, it’s my Sp. Bday, dating back to the cold street corner of SW 1st and Gibbs in downtown Portland, Oregon. And a red headed angel named Shar.
The injunction of Jesus to be born again (as recorded by fisherman John; chapter three) comes with unparalleled urgency: no one is guaranteed physical life tomorrow. The truth is that all people die; not all live. THANKfully, His invitation is super-glued to the enabling of His invincible Spirit: the Almighty living God of all Heaven and Earth, does His absolute winning BEST to adopt us into His forever family. He’d rather send the KING of Kings to be tortured, vilified, and crucified…than live forever without you and me. Unbelievable, but nonetheless true.
Check out John chapter 13. Note the irony in verse one, and quintessential love in verse two. Jesus didn’t wash just 22 feet; he did 24, including the betrayer who had already sold out to the dark side. Open the Book. Listen to what the only true Lover says to you. Then humbly receive. (Then you get your own spiritual birthday!) You can trust the Person who died for you. AND, He overcame death. So can you, in Him.
Prayer: O God, in this cold, calculating, callous world, please keep me warm and dry. ‘Life’ can be so damp and dreary, wasted and weary. I hate that. I don’t need any of that. I don’t need anything in this world. I need You, O God, whoever you are. Let your light and love see me; let your glory and goodness change me, and enable me to truly live again, and truly love. Let me find “the way, the truth, and the life”: the Savior.
written in forever appreciation to Shar, faithful witness of Incarnate grace and truth.
Oct. 22 Pumped to have visitors Paul/Jolee from Milwaukee.
Sept. 14 Another BDAY for dear mom Mulloy. (They're having a longevity contest!)
5 Another BDAY for dear mama Heard!
Aug.
29 FINE anniversary day, and back to Atlanta.
28 Bob flew to Tanpa to meet w heroes Scott n Janet Willis for lunch. So sweet. Then supper w nephew Ry and family. Then about 8pm, on our anniv. eve, we got a flat tire, in the rain, cold, etc. BUT God sent a dear African American truck driver 3 minutes later to change our tire. Incredible, except that when the Almighty shows up, He SHOWS UP. Yay GOD.
26 Bob drove to Dallas to drop off our second car for Greg to use for work, so he missed the Stone Mt. event. But Mary, Amy, Juan plus 23,000 believers were there, praying, loving, trusting God to bring revival in our hearts and nation.
21 Mary and Bob are PUMPED to be inviting EVERYBODY to join us (in prayer if not physically) at Stone Mountain this Saturday. Hoping for 30,000 people including lots of pastors. We'll be seeking God for His forgiveness of our sins of RACISM and IDOLATRY (which is any type of religion without the Savior). Come join us!!!!!!!!
13 Back to work in Atlanta. What a privilege to serve refugees fulltime.
9 Greg headed back to Dallas; Mary and Bob to Sheboygan, than on the 10th to Silver Birch family camp with Manitowoc Faith EFC friends. Soooo sweet.
8 Friends and family went to a MLB game, and Mary got a 'foul ball' souvenir that sorta landed at her feet, after nearing maiming some of us on the 3rd base side. She gave it to Greg who graciously passed it along to his cousin Dylan.
JULY 31
For Greg's 21st birthday, we flew him from Dallas to Milaukee on the 30th. In God's sweet grace, many people at Eastbrook Church's Holy Grounds coffeeshop stopped in there to greet Greg.
15 Sooo proud of our kiddos. Greg is serving with YWAM Dallas at Kids Across America urban camp in Missouri. Amy and Juan just arrived in Davao, Mindanao for four days.
Pls pray for them as they travel back: Greg will be leaving MO for TX. on Saturday midday. A/J will be leaving Manila on Saturday night (Atlanta time) and getting to Atlanta late Sunday night.
July 9 So thankful we could host a couple mission leaders for the weekend as we explored options in Clarkston for their trainees to come for cross cultural training here, prior to heading off to unreached areas of Asia. Whatever it takes, we're available. Jesus is building His Church and the gates of hell are biting the dust.
July 2 Thanking God for dear Amy on her Bday. But bummed that Mexico got knocked out of World Cup today :(((
June 26. Great fun, cooking in our driveway, with 4 summer interns of Grace Fellowship. These folks will go places.
June 25 THE day; she put pics on facebook. Big event: seeing Incredibles 2 with Mary's little people: Saron (Ethiopia) n Daisy (Myanmar)
June 24 GREAT bday dinner w Amy and Juan; so proud of those two!!!!!
June 23 STARTING celebrating Mary Em's bday w supper at the sweet home of S. Sudanese pastor. We took along a couple refugee teens, inclu. Pierrette, whose bday is same day as Mary's.
June 17 Was blown away by the message at Victory World Church. God's anointing is truly on C. Rouse. Check it out; Victory Norcross.
June 14 BLESSED by Amy and Juan's oneness in the LORD forever.
June 12 SO GLAD to be back in the saddle in Atlanta. LOVE these dear international friends.
June 9 THANKING God for dear brothers: Matt and Juan on their bdays.
June 7 SO HONORED to intro Cito to CPC friends in Tulsa. THANK you, Drew fam!
June 3 LOVED Seeing Greg n Cito in Dallas.
June 2. Enjoyed reflecting on our 'gotcha day'...adopting Greg 19 yrs. ago
May 27 Wonderful to spend the day with Mama in Mville, thanking God for USA military veterans.
May 22 Mary and I are looking forward to spending the day in training Grace Fellowship interns to do ESL ministries and outreach to refugees in Clarkson. Come join us!
May 19 Amy and Juan joined us in celebrating her 21st 'spiritual birthday'. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
May 18 Our Friday pm Open House was great fun, attended by folks from Honduras, Colombia, and even a retired coffee-brewer from Tulsa. The highlight was celebrating Madeline Plaster's M.A. achievement at Emory. We're looking forward to seeing how the Lord will use her to bless many people in her career as a Community Health professional.
May 13 Mom's day was a good one for Mary Em. But as Sunday ended, so reignited Bob's battle w vertigo which culminated in an ER trip, and a couple days of hospital 'visitation'. I ain't gonna let no rocks outpraise me.
May 12 Mary arrived back this aft from a few days w Gmama in Alabama, then we headed to the airport at 10pm to welcome Melanie Cruz from Bogota for nine days. This will be a 'vision' trip for her, as a student of the RGBC of Edinburg, TX.
8. Greg arrived safely back in Dallas tonight. We'll miss him. Juan had a good visit to Dallas.
May 6. Bob and Mary immensely enjoyed breaking bread for body n soul at Jubilee Partners in Comer.
May 5. Wow, almost two months since my last update here. TIME FLIES when you're having fun, serving the KING of Kings, and LORD of Lords. Since it's true that HE can use anyone, espec. wimps for His glory...
Anyhow, praying for Juan this weekend in TX, and Greg enroute to SC for reuni at LookUp Lodge. It's been sweet having Greg with us these ten days; he's really growing in the many ways. We're SO PROUD of him. His 'grandmoms' still need prayer, for peace and healing. Jehovah Rapha is able. Would love to see these ladies live to 100, as His witnesses. Looking forward to spoiling 'ma Lady, M.E.' on mom's day next week.
Sharing at Jubilee Partners in Comer tomor; will love that.
SEND US YOUR PRAYER NEEDS.
bob
March 11-14. Anyone who has doubted my sanity now has irrefutable evidence that it's gone. Mary and I led a team of 11 youth in central Texas in a discipleship/work event to clean up the 'armpit' of Camp Tejas. Snakes (inclu. one big guy), concrete blocks, thousands of bricks...but LOTS of laughter, inspiring devotions, and good food made it most memorable. (My knees and ankles keep reminding me too.) The best part was being with our son Greg and his YWAM cohorts. Yay GOD for carrying us. At 67, I'm still very young, compared to Methuselah.
March 1. We're so proud of our son-in-law, Juan, as he just entered full time ministry to young people. Please pray for him as he is certain to make an eternal impact in the Lawrenceville area. The enemy is not taking this lightly.
Feb. 24 I (bob) received three hours of training today to upgrade state certification to minister in minimum and maximum security prisons. I'm thankful for this government 'clearance' to go after the 'one' of the 100. At face value, this is a high risk endeavor. Big deal; no guts, no glory. Jesus spilled his so that we're not locked in to 'how i was born'. We can be born again! In fact, we MUST be born again; John 3.3 precedes 3.16. When this miracle happens, HIS Holy Spirit moves into a person. Then, no fear.
22 Received the great news today and answer to prayer...that our coworker (Cito) since 2001 will be coming from the Philippines to Tulsa this summer for LEI'S annual ILTI forum.
17-18. I (bob) had a wonderful time at the annual missions conference at Ev. Free in Sheboygan, WI. I was so good to be home, if only for two days. It was/is totally inspiring to be reminded (by Biblical truth and first-hand updates from global workers) that the LORD Jesus Christ is building His Church and that the gates of hell are biting the dust.
SOS SOS SOS ...GOD IS ANSWERING.
January 8, 2018 Juan arrived back in Atlanta today and is able to be with us through Jan. 26th. We're are so THANKFUL for his life and being part of our family. Please pray for Alma's continued healing, and for wisdom for Juan and Amy as they seek direction in this new chapter of life.
Jan. 5 Alma was moved from the Dallas hospital yesterday to a Baylor rehab center just 7 minutes from YWAM Dallas where Juan was discipled. She is making wonderful progress, THANKS to the prayers and love of many people, as well as God using the docs. She needs lots of therapy, though she can now sit up by herself, talk to people, and use one eye. Juan is keeping folks up to date on his facebook page. I'll give a brief excerpt from his entry yesterday in case some folks don't have a face account:
"Thank you for praying. Everything went well this morning with the filter removal to transferring Alma to Baylor....Her right eye has improved a little but it's not functioning 100%. It's hard for her to remember some things likes dates, times and places..."
We in Atlanta are really looking forward to seeing Juan again, as he has been a faithful POA and caregiver for Alma there in Dallas since the Dec. 2nd accident.
Greg has been doing well in Puerto Rico these past few weeks, and heads to Mexico in a few days for three weeks there. He'll then finish up his YWAM DTS in Denver on Feb. 9th and head back 'home' to YWAM Dallas the next day. Mary and I are looking forward to visiting him there asap!!!
Dec 23 ALMA CONTINUES TO MAKE PROGRESS. Regrettably, she won't be able to see her dad for a while. He spent several hours today at US Immigration at the El Paso, TX. border crossing, requesting a 3-day emergency visa to visit Alma in Dallas. At 5.30 pm, we received the sad news that he has been denied. THANK you for praying. We believe God is at work. NONE of His best purposes fail for anyone. Romans 8:28; Psalm 100:5
Dec 20 REGARDING ALMA, Juan's younger sis who is still in critical condition at a Dallas hospital:
a. per Juan's text to us last night, docs are still concerned about her phlegm and throat infections; now that the ventilator is out, she may need a trachestomy; pls pray that God heals her sinuses and throat so that this procedure will not be needed;
b. their dad, J. Lorenzo senior, is petitioning ICE for a three day 'mercy visa' to visit his daughter in Dallas. He'll be at the El Paso, TX. border crossing on Friday a.m., Dec. 22. This would be a marvelous answer to prayer and sweet Christmas gift: pls pray w us about this.
I (bob) haven't received any calls from Greg since his arrival in Puerto Rico ten days ago; so, I told Mary yesterday a.m. that the best thing that could happen is to talk w Greg today; a couple hours later, he called. He is doing very well, though some members of his YWAM team are sick (bad water, whatever). We're so proud of him for doing this month-long mission there; very needy place.
Pray for us as we use every opportunity to share CHRIST during this CHRISTmas season.
Dec 13 PRAISES AND PRAYERS FOR ALMA, Juan's sister in a Dallas hospital, which will be home for a while:
PRAISE that their mom (Aurora) and sister (Nena) are able to come for 15 days to see Alma. That should happen today.
PRAISE Alma's condition seems stable, and that Juan is doing well as her 24-7 caregiver and prayer warrior.
PRAISE that Amy had a good visit with them last weekend.
Please join us in prayer that:
1. the MRI done today will be accurate and that docs can proceed accordingly;
2. Juan will know if/when for her to get a tracheostomy tube;
3. Alma's body temp will come back to 98.6;
4. Alma will be meeting with the Lord daily, moment by moment.
5. their dad, Juan Lorenzo, will have peace there in Juarez, and be healthy enough to work;
6. Mary Em will have a fruitful Dallas visit, tomor thru Dec. 18.
7. God will use this accident to birth many divine appointments for many people;Romans 8.28; Psalm 100.
Dec. 5 10.30pm Just received this text from Juan, who's been at Alma's side since Saturday. " Just out of surgery. Went well. They were able to take out enough of a piece of skull without getting into the sinus area above the ear. All of her numbers maintained well during procedure and they turned off sedation at the end and she moved both her arms. She's only been moving one, so that's good. They say the night should be peaceful now. They were glad they did it because they could tell it was going to keep getting worse."
It's 9pm Atlanta time. Surgeons in Dallas just decided to cut out a piece of Alma's skull in order for her swelling and bleeding brain to gain some relief. I just sent out text messages to about 130 people to pray.
Dec. 5. Alma 's condition is still critical; doctors have not reset broken bones in her face and pelvis as they are trying to treat the spinal fluid draining through her nose. If this doesn't stop by tomor, dec. 6, they will have to intervene surgically.
Dec. 2. We heard the numbing news that Alma Terrazas, younger sister of our son in law (Juan) was involved in a severe car accident.
DEC. 1 Mary and I arrived in Lagrange, Texas, and met with Baptist Men coordinator, Butch Moore. We were amazed to hear how this group provided over 3 million meals to people recently affected by hurricanes in Texas and Florida. We hope to partner with them in 2018. We went on to Camp Tejas, 30 minutes away in Giddings, and served there for two days with other volunteers, hosting 2160 visitors who came to celebrate and learn about the Christ of Christmas. My favorite job, along with dear friend Keith MacDougal (orphanage ministry in Manila) was assisting about 50 young children to make mangers.
Nov. 23 I (bob) had the rich opportunity of hosting friends from Iran, Honduras, and Guatemala for Thanksgiving 'eve' dinner. It was Little Caesar's pizza and fruit, not exactly authentic to what early colonists cooked up! I then rode with Amy to be with Mary Em and Mama in Mville; great fun!
OCT. 23 Mary and I are back in Atlanta, having been 'on the road' for almost two weeks. Highlights were, of course, spending time with dear friends and family, in particular:A) Being treated by Portland friends (SnJ) to a trip to my (bob's) favorite lighthouse, in Chatham, Mass. The true 'story' is told in THE FINEST HOURS film that is one of my top ten...recounting the daring rescue of 32 men at sea in Feb. 1952.
B) Spending time w fam in Wisconsin;
C) Joyously having a part in the annual missions conf. at Eastbrook in Milwaukee. There's no place like that place. Seeing real warriors (not the glitsy NFL and Gladiator types) serving in hard places...this was truly rebuking, inspiring, and challenging for Mary and me.
Oct.1. After more than 60 hrs. enroute, our friends, mentioned below, arrived safely and sanely (!) w all their bags and both their kids...at their intended destination. THANK you for interceding to make this happen. We have greetings from them that you may access for Praise on this very website, in the pray.er section.
9/28 Moments ago, about 5pm, friends of ours boarded a plane here along with their two active boys, ages 5 and 3. They'll stop in Europe to change planes, then on to ..... After a few hours there, they will continue on to their 'home' a few hours away. Tom had eye socket cancer a few years ago. Then last year, the right side of his face was cut out because of cancer. As of three weeks ago, his new teeth on that side seem to be working well, though there is some puffiness that's beginning to show just to the right of his chin. Aside from these prayer needs, they will need Intervention to insure that all 20 bags arrive safely at their home...about 60 hours from now. As a sidebar, the temps are in the 100's every day.Thankfully, his wife is fluent in the national language. She plans on opening a center to utilize her cuisine expertise to present life's finest Invitation; many contents of those containers are for this venue. PLS be praying for these dear ones...espec. that they will do well on this first step of 60 hrs. of mere catnaps. Their names are written on the palms of the Almighty (Isaiah 49) who truly honors intercession.
SEPT. 28: My dear spouse suggested we see a midweek movie (of all things!) today, so we viewed ALL SAINTS, named after a fellowship in Smyrna (SE of Nashville), TN. It was a tearjerker for this old guy. It relates the true story of what happens when you open your heart to international refugees.
Sept. 11 PTL that Greg arrived safely at Youth With A Mission, Denver, to begin 5.5 months of Discipleship Training School. We love him and are so proud of him.
Also...on Sept. 11-13...we were able to assist Syrian refugees that came up to Atlanta. They were amazed at the welcome that believers gave them here, though most stayed only 4 days.
Sept. 9 Since Harvey hit Texas, every waking hour seemed to pull me to 'help out' there, but I never got the green lights. NOW I know why. For example, this a.m. I was privileged to host a farewell party/prayer for Tom and Anna Spainhour as they're headed back to serve in India in 19 days from now. We had about 30 folks, many of whom were inspired to share Christ more fervently than ever before. Tom n Anna are looking forward to returning to their coffeeshop ministry that has been effective in rescuing victims from traffickers.
As "irma" the nasty lady barrels toward Atlanta, we have multiplied ops to share the love of God with refugees. This a.m. Mary met about 40 families from Syria who have just arrived from Miami. They are without friends here, staying in a gym, and needing to meet the Friend that is closer than a brother. Pray with us (and come help serve meals!) that are these challenges will result in a massive harvest.
Aug 29; 2:30 pm Headed to Stone Mountain in 15 min. to spend the day there, and sleep in a pricey no-plumbing yurt, of all things. This is what happens when you marry a much younger woman...glorified camping to celebrate 30 years. She says "this is an experiment" and "we just won't drink anymore today". Whoa.THANK you so much for praying for me, especially during our drive to Alabama last Friday aft. I failed to check my 'blind spot' while switching lanes once enroute. Just once, as I came within inches of a passing/speeding car. SCARED me into better driving, and reminded me that you were praying too.
At 4pm Satur, we showed the Courageous film which is Life-changing. We also had a marvelous banquet and 'challenge' time after the film, attended by 28, inclu. 13 men who recommitted themselves to lead their families well. We were honored to have two AfricanAmer pastors involved participating, as well as a Cambodian pastor.
Arrived back in Atlanta at 11pm Sunday.
Aug. 25. Heading to Monroeville, AL within the hour. Haven't been feeling well for a few days. Need prayer so I don't get sick along the way, and more importantly, that our marriage renewal event tomor night will have the Lord's blessing. We have confirmation of 8 couple attending, with a possible 3 more.
Aug. 22, 2017. Looking forward to the 29th when Em and I celebrate 30 yrs. In the meantime, we'll be in Monroeville this weekend, leading a Courageous outreach...challenging myself and a handful of other men to major on light, not heat, as husbands and dads. We're taking our cue from Sherwood Baptist church in Albany, Georgia. They got it from Jesus, so it will be cool. IF you're in the area (Albany or Monroeville), check it out and get fortified, mystified, and stupified without being stupid...all at the same time!
Aug. 20. As I (bob) was collecting info today from refugees about their birthdays, I found out that our Iranian friend's ("Mer") is in two days: Aug. 22. So, we quickly made a couple calls and scheduled a party at his place at 8pm the 22nd. Thanks to God's blessing in the form of ice cream/cake, pizza, small gifts, friends from 5 nations, we had a sweet party of about a dozen folks that of course moved Mer to tears. In the process, we learned about a network of over 900 Iranians in the Atlanta area, many of whom are new believers and seekers. We will follow up on some of these brand new contacts, inclu. two attendees who've only been in the States for 7 months. Mary and I are truly fortunate to have opportunities like these...as HIS salt and light.
July 24: Bob/Mary delighted to drive a cool van from Atlanta to Milwaukee, to share with dear pastor Joseph there; thanks to the grace of 6 Milwau fams. Great fun!!!!!!
July 3 Juan began his 3rd year of college, doing so this time w online courses, heading for a BA in Communication. So glad for his sweet wife Amy who's walking with him each step of this journey.
June: foster daughter (Josie in the Philippines) began her second year in Bible college. Yay, Josie!!!
May 17th: Greg fly to Dallas to begin a four month volunteer stint with with YWAM.
May 7: Greg graduated from his gap year program, Vox Bivium, at LookUp Lodge in SC. We're so proud of him.
mid-March: returned from Rio Grande border to Atlanta.
SORRY SORRY SORRY for not updating this til now (Aug. 22nd). Will backtrack a little, gleaning from our Aug. 7 newsletter.
Jan. 25 We had lunch with an MD friend who met us at RGBC. We succeeded in introducing him to a nursing student at the college, and began making plans to join them for outreach in Mexico.
Jan. 21 I was able to preach (w interpreter) at a wonderful church in Charco Azul, Mexico, about 20 min. from the border. GREAT fun!!!
Jan. 11 Mary and I met with two Hispanic missionaries at Whataburger, just two blocks from the Hidalgo int'l bridge.
Jan. 9 I was up at 6 a.m. and ready to roll as a student at the RGBC Missionary Language school, with the intent to study Spanish about 8 hours a day. Regretably, I made a name for myself by royally flunking the assessment test, which i doubt has ever happened in the 50+ years of this school. My excuse (when needed) is that it is computer-based.
Jan. 7 We moved to trailer 2 at Flame of Truth missionary housing, about ten miles from RGBC.
Jan. 5 We arrived safely at RGBC (Rio Grande Bible College) in Edinburg, TX, which borders Mcallen. After several visits in the past ten years, it's good to be back in the RGBC guesthouse.
Jan. 2 Mary joined me today, and we drove west for a couple hours, fighting rain all the way.
2017 Jan. 1. I (bob) left Atlanta today, and spent the night with our dear friend, Ted Carter in Birmingham.
DEC 21 Whoa, soooo long without editing this. SO SORRY. I lost the password.
ANYHOW, much has happened, inclu. our decision for me (bob) to begin intensive Spanish language study at Rio Grande Bible College in Edinburg, TX. (borders McAllen). Lots to do before then, including heartfelt prayer to determine if Greg should come with us, return to LookUp Lodge in SC, or stay home and look for a job in Lilburn. Sam and Ezer Karani will be staying in our home while we're gone those four months. I'm also trusting God for a viable ministry during those 4 months in the RG Valley. Have already been offered a volunteer spot at Nueva Vida elementary school in Reynosa. Would love to do that, doing Spanish literacy. Hoping to buy a good-engine used pickup truck to make those weekly trips.
July 4. Our 'national Bday outreach' started yesterday. Bob left home Lilburn at 3pm to participate in the weekly worship/potluck at Jubilee Partners in Comer, about 75 miles NE. Mary and Greg left about 5pm to Gainesville,GA, about 50 min. NW where they met with Congolese refugees. After spending the night near there, Bob and Mary escorted the Congolese family of Pauline (7 kids) to Toccoa Falls College, as one of their teens is looking for a school to attend next year. Pauline's family has been in America since December. They have major medical and financial problems, but their faith in the risen Christ is unshakable.
At 8pm, Bob stopped at Walmart to pick up red/white/blue cookies and oranges to share at the Clarkston mosque, arriving there at 8:30pm. But folks were still fasting and weren't ready for food deliveries so he shared them with nearby families from South Sudan and Cameroon which were very grateful. A long, but outstanding day, by grace through faith in our risen Savior who alone provides true freedom, now and forever.
JULY 1 Bob was honored today to visit a true warrior at Emory hospital in Atalnta. Tom Spainhour! Having spent a few years in India, and many months in surgery/rehab, his faith is once again being tested. Jaw cancer required bone and flesh from his leg. Lots of therapy ahead, but he's 'on the way', trusting the Almighty to lead him and his dear wife Anna, plus two lively little guys, back to India.
UPDATE: Tom was able to get back home on July 2nd.
June 25 Had lots of fun on MARY'S EMILY'S birthday, including hosting about a dozen refugee children in our back yard for 9pm smores. That's one nice thing aging slightly: you get a birthday every year. :l
June 24 Mary and Greg were w her mom a couple weeks and I was diligent to daily water all her flowers while she was gone. I even took the one from our living room each day and put it outside for sunlight, rain, etc. When Mary Em arrived back today she told me it's plastic. Now she tells me. Ahhh, communication, the key to watering plants and people. :)
3 IF YOU WILL PRAY...pls check out prayer tab.
May 5. USA day of prayer. We need it, ya think?
I, bob, returned a couple days ago from 11 days at TX.Mexico border. I was truly inspired by God's faithful servants on both sides of the border. The only prob I had was with some scammers (US citizens) in TX. who towed my rental car away. Near heart attack for me, but it worked out well, as I was determined to share the gospel with all that motley crew, which I did. In the end, they reduced by fee (for parking illegally for an hour) from 250 to 100 greenbacks.
Was ESPECIALLY glad to meet Juan's folks in Juarez. Juan Sr. and his dear wife Aurora, as well as all relatives, are beautiful people in every way.
As a result of my brief escapades in the McAllen area, Mary and I will be overnight hosting 3 teams from RGBC (Rio Grande Bible College) this month, as well as animation video expert (Monica) for the summer. Come see us if you'd like to meet these choice servants.
APR 13. A few years ago, an 8 yr. old girl watched deranged men murder her mom and four brothers. TODAY, two friends left Atlanta to her C.Amer nation to continue working on her asylee visa. There is no witness protection in that country. Even if there was...
Pls pray also for mom Mulloy in Sheboygan (tooth pain) and Juan's dad in Juarez (knee pain) for peace and healing.
APRIL 10....so SORRY for not updating this for a hundred years, but I HAVE TO NOW SINCE MY AWESOME son-in-law JUAN did a butt-kicking-the-devil tonight at a bar downtown. "JUANton" did 3 gospel rap numbers that were clear and bright in that very dark place. THANK YOU, JESUS, and thank you bro Juan. So proud of you. Mary texted her friends that she is 'proud as a peacock' at your witness there.
LOTS OF OTHER BLESSINGS since i last updated this sight...hope to get back to this tomor. At a coffeeshop now that's closing in minus 3 minutes ago. (I wish they would have told us the closing time before we ordered stuff ten minutes ago. I suppose I should read storeTimes on the door.)
Awesome message at Victory World Church today. It was a challenge espec. for us folks over 30 to be authentic life in our dying world!!!
January 13. I'm finally getting to this. HANGING CLOSE TO JESUS WHO ROSE FROM THE DEAD. There's way too much dead all around. You can keep living in fantasy, imagining everything is cool. Or, come back to Jesus while you have breath. Choose Life!
Dec. 25 w fam and more friends. Celebrating the Babe, Savior, and KING of Kings!
Dec. 24 lunch at home with friends from Iran and S. Sudan. Short n sweet for body and soul, and a whole lot more than i deserve.
Nov. 27 Juan said 'bye' to his folks in Juarez, Mexico, after five full days, and hit the long bridge into El Paso around 9:30 a.m., Dallas time. About 20 minutes later, here in Atlanta, we were visited by two brand new believers from Iran who insisted we pray for Juan, though we had been doing so all morning. Having said 'amen', we headed to the basement to start their carpentry training. Ten minutes later Juan texted that he had just come through Immigration. Plus, the staff was very kind to him. THANK you to all who prayed. "Righteousness and peace kissed each other." (Psalm 85:10)
Nov. 26. Super-sweet Day. Was able to share the Bread of Life with African-Americans, Hondurans, Bengalis, Pakistanis, Iranians, Sudanese, Congolese, and even a few Causacians!
Nov. 24. ONE REASON I don't update this site very much is because I'm having too much FUN!!! It's after 10 pm now and here's a look back on today. COUNT THE NATIONS!
I was getting in my car this morning when I noticed my next door neighbor (Athena, from S.Africa) was getting into her car. So I ran back into the hse and got her a fruitcake. She is a single mom. She n teen son were delighted to get it.
Then, off to Clarkston (seven min. away), the most ethnically-diverse square mile in America. I took my Hispanic son-in-law's computer to be fixed by a Rwandan brother, and drop off a pumpkin pie. As I walked passed his friendly...he must have had a good nose...neighbor, we started talking and I gave him a pie too. He's from the Burmese Chin group. I got to talk with some neighbor kids from Bhutan who are so HAPPY that they have vacation all week!
Then I picked up two teens nearby from Centr Afr Repub to help us get ready for Thanksgiving dinner. We're inviting lots of people; confirmed so far are three Iranians, a Congolese, and a few Causasians. Yay God! While there I spoke with a Burmese evangelist and assisting planning a Christmas outreach for Dec. 12, hosting about 700 people, including about 50 Rohingya. I also exchanged texts with the Proskuneo director, planning for a Christmas outreach on 12/19 for seventy refugee children (from ten countries) who study at his music ministry each Saturday a.m..
On the way home, I stopped for a minute to see my Mideast friend who runs a business in a really tough area. As I walked to the office, w pie in arm, an African-American friend named Daniel saw IT, so Presto. It gone! :) In the office, my M friend wrapped me in a bear hug. He started the Lantern Project tech trng last month. We've been friends since our first survey weekend here in 2009. In Dec. 2011, he confided in me that he was really embarrassed, as a Muslim, because they had no kids after several years of marriage. I came back the next day and prayed with them that God would give them a child. HE DID, on Thanksgiving day in 2014. Birthday was yesterday which I dumbly forgot. They have another son now too.
Then I got home and put the African teens to work. After a couple hrs, I went to see my Lebanese doc. While waiting for the doc, texted Juan in Mexico and called Ecuadorean handyman to arrange job training (putting up walls and drop ceiling) for Honduran pastor in our basement on Friday. Dr. George allowed blood testing and PTL...NO diabetes, just a badly infected foot. Will get MRI on leg tomor. Got to share a brief witness with a nurse and receptionist.
Then...off to the nearby library for 15 min. to check email. Responded to an urgent request from Gudjarat who's looking for help for a homeless M girl.
At the same time, Mary received visitors from Haiti, inclu. Myrlande who lost her legs, two children, and all worldly goods in the earthquake 4 years ago. Her son Marvens is half way thru Lantern, studying electrical. He studies hard and is doing well in this hands-on component, so this should be adequate income for him and his mom for many years.
I spoke by phone, texted and emailed a few other internationals in between, and bought gas at QuikTrip. The cashier is African American whose mom wanted to name her Amanda. But her dad crossed that out on the birth certificate and wrote 'Asia' instead. She's ok with it though as it's Unique.
VERY COOL to see JESUS orchestrate all this. Next...lalaland .
1. an elderly brother in Albuquerque named Dwight who needs to sell his house before Oct. 1;
2. an elderly saint named Delores whom Mary and I met while walking today here in Portland.
Dec 20 REGARDING ALMA, Juan's younger sis who is still in critical condition at a Dallas hospital:
a. per Juan's text to us last night, docs are still concerned about her phlegm and throat infections; now that the ventilator is out, she may need a trachestomy; pls pray that God heals her sinuses and throat so that this procedure will not be needed;
b. their dad, J.
1. the MRI done today will be accurate and that docs can proceed accordingly;
2. Juan will know if/when for her to get a tracheostomy tube;
3. Alma's body temp will come back to 98.6;
4. Alma will be meeting with the Lord daily, moment by moment.
5. their dad, Juan Lorenzo, will have peace there in Juarez, and be healthy enough to work;
B) Spending time w fam in Wisconsin;
Sunday Nov. 22 THE GREAT PHYSICIAN is working on our block! Ten days ago, our next door neighbor, Servio, injured his back and wasn't able to walk without crutches. He lost his job the day before. Though his wife and three grown children have all come to Christ in the past six years, Servio had not. On Tuesday, we prayed together that the LORD would heal his body, soul, and spirit. Leaning hard on those crutches, he flew to his son's home near New York on Wednesday, hoping to get medical help. We've kept praying. They went to a healing service on Thursday and Servio asked God for miracles. He stopped using the crutches the next day, because he didn't need to! I texted his son, Norm, this a.m. immediately: "My dad doesn't need crutches anymore, and he began reading the New Testament last night. He believes that God has healed him."
Meet Robert Mulloy Jr!
CONGO has never seen peace, and many refugees have come to the USA, including Kivava who was Bob’s yard guy in 2011. He and his wife Fatuma then moved to Iowa. In March, Fatuma gave birth to RNM in nearby Rock Island, Illinois, where I also was born, in March. What's the value of refugee friendships? Priceless. BTW, beautiful baby!!! I was too. |
Many of you have been praying for bob re: 3 decisions. Pls check out the Prayer tab above to see how The Lord has answered.
Nov. 6 One of the fun things we do is provide jobs around the house for needy refugees and immigrants, including two Caribbean friends who came yesterday. "Suzy" was efficient in most things, but did not do very well in vacuuming the rugs (though our machine is inept) and washing the kitchen floor. As I reflected on that this morning, I had some negative emotions about that...until I remembered that Suzy is a double amputee who also lost two children in an earthquake, lives in a desperate apartment complex, has been abandoned by her husband, etc.. Thankfully the HOLY Spirit reminded me of these things in a kind way! My family is truly enriched, honored, and humbled to serve these 'strong survivors' that HE is bringing to America.
As I finished keyboarding that previous sentence, I received a text from a Rwa.ndan pastor who's coming to our home for prayer and work in a few minutes. He too has lost loved ones in the 1994 genocide that wiped out nearly a million people in three months. He still has nightmares, but perseveres in serving the Lord.
Nov. 4 Three Iran.ian men who visited me last night for a few hours. All have come to Christ, so we spent some time in John 2, the record of Jesus' first miracles. One man took notes! He showed me 4 line scars on his left wrist, a reminder of when his wife announced her desire to divorce, so he opted for suicide. But God is bigger, or course! That was a few years ago. I heard his testimony at our kitchen table, topped off by the news that his wife and five other fam members have since come to Christ. As one of thousands of new refugees to Atlanta this year, he has nothing in world finances. But he is a child of The KING now and is pumped to be alive, forever! Hope to host them again this Sunday for Bible study.
Fam news: Mary's mom got 2 FULL hrs. with an ear doc in Mobile, PTL.
Nov. 3 Had two men from Central America today for carpentry and Bible study.
Nov. 2 Had two visitors from Haiti today for painting and Bible study.
Nov. 1 With Atlanta as the world's busiest airport, there are always new people to meet. I'm asking the Lord to give me NEW opportunities every day to teach His word. Selfishly, I'm also asking Him to bring them to my house. We'll see how that goes! He brought a teen from India today to help in the big job of repairing n painting all our window frames, replacing worn screens, and washing all the windows. He held the ladder for me (ouch), and then we had Bible study and tea.
Oct. 31 I'm loaded for bear for tons of kiddos tonight. Got fruit. Also tons of tracts and Bibles in numerous languages, for kids n adults. Pray with me that many will come and gain food for bod n soul. :)
Nov 4 Update: about 30 people came to the 'table', including some very needy neighbors, two Koreans, and four Indian nationals from Kerela.
FRIDAY Oct. 29...for those of you who received my SOS prayer list by text yesterday...THANKYOU for watching my back. God answered in the following ways:
1. My dear mom in law NOW has peace about moving in with us, rather than renting an apartment nearby. Yay! It will be a privilege to host her, though it will take some work now to find a duplex that will work well for all of us, and still be near enough to most our refugee friends.
2. Looks like Greg's contract is extended to stay on at a Christian camp in Wisconsin through at least mid-Febru, rather than ending next week. PTL.
3. I (bob) have peace, as of this a.m., to drive to El Paso, TX., and serve at YWAM Juarez for a week Leaving Atlanta on Nov. 16 via Bham, Jackson, MS, Dallas, and Midland, TX. Will be honored to chauffeur my son in law and his sis back into USA on Satur Nov. 28, about 6 a.m.; pls pray that all will go well in this "advance parole" for them, that they may continue steps toward USA citizenship.
Not sure, as of this hour if I'll head on to Asia. I only have so much energy and funds for these overseas opportunities, so am seeking God about what's best for His kingdom. MARANATHA.
Oct. 21 South Sudanese pastor David Joram cut our lawn today, in exchange for $50. tuition for this sem's Lantern Project training where David is in the electrician track. He is excelling in this and hopefully will gain his national license next year. A week ago, 15 new students accepted for this new term. It's a genuine privilege to partner with this wholistic outreach to refugee men and women.
Oct. 13 Greg started a three week volunteer job at Riverside Bible Camp in Amherst, WI. We're so proud of him!
Oct. 11 Congrats to sis Jane and Bob Jackson for 40 yrs.!
Sept. 19 Luis Terrazas and I headed back to Atlanta, stopping for the night in Cincy to see 'old' friends. C.S.Lewis was right: "God picks friends for us because He wants to give us the best".
Sept. 15 With Jim flying in from Phoenix, we "6 kids" had a photo session with mom, followed by 'cards'. I left the nursing home at 8 pm, intending to head back to Milwaukee before I got sleepy. But as I got in my car, I suddenly remembered that I hadn't seen good friends Dey and Vernette Cowles (who lived just 3 minutes away) for several months; so I went to see them. I had only been in their home a few minutes when Dey asked me: "Do you know what today is?" I didn't. He then reminded me that it was the 3rd anniversary of Jan going home to Heaven. They hadn't received any visitors that day, so they were truly grateful for me 'stopping by'. I'm TRULY GRATEFUL too that the Almighty still uses wimps to build up His people in the only cause that really matters.
Sept. 14 Mom Mulloy celebrated 91 years!
Sept. 12 Juan did a rap and shared his testimony at Eastbrook men's breakfast, followed by Bob teaching on Enoch, dad of Methuselah. Though Juan was in Wisc for less than 48 hours, he was busy sharing Christ in ten meetings.
9/11 ! Bob was privileged to share with 160+ women at Eastbrook church in Milwaukee. Vital date to do so!
Sept. 5. Mama Heard celebrated her 50+ years big time in New Orleans!!!
Sept. 2 Juan's brother Luis joined us in Atlanta for a few days, then he and Bob hit the road to Wisconsin.
Sept. 1: Greg flew nonstop (SW air) to Wisconsin to 'seek his fortune'. With his aunt and uncle's help, he's settling in there, while looking for a job, preferably at a camp.
Aug. 29. Mary Em and Bob 'got away' to celebrate 28 yrs!
August 9, Sunday. While driving from Atlanta to Monroeville, I stopped at a MacD's for what I thot would be simple oatmeal and ice water. But the Lord prompted me to give out calendar cards (with Scripture) to the 20+ seated customers. The last one was a dad who was furious with his teen son. They'd just come from 'church'. "Kenny" had been more vocal than ever about his gay "preference". Dad ordered me to unequivocally tell Kenny what the Bible says about homosexuality. I was shocked and saddened by the ballistics, but I did as the dad instructed. I did so humbly, exalting the Lamb. An hour later, Kenny and his dad agreed for me to pray with them. I can't adequately describe the huge range of emotions evident in that hour. I can, however, thank God for this divine appointment and the privilege of being His ambassador wherever, whenever.
It's tempting to single out the neediest person in that eatery that day. It was likely me. All people have their pet sins. As an ordained minister, my sins are likely more destructive in their omission and commission, as i bear His name. THANKFULLY, the Almighty usually chooses wimps and fools for His work so that all people know Who did it!
July 31: Greg turned 18 today. Whoa.
June 26 Pray for appointment for Mary's mom, with ENT.
June 17 Mary's mom came back with us to Atlanta. Needs prayer for healing in her sinuses...so that she can hear again!
June 15-26 Greg's helping out at Eastbrook camp in Mke; THANK you Jan Siefert for housing our guy!
JUNE 14 Amy got married to Juan Terrazas. Yay! Check out the FAMILY page of this website for a wedding photo.
Apr. 22. Pls check out our 'prayer' site to see some sweet answers.
Mary is in Mville for a few days; glad to spend time w her mom.
Amy and Juan are coasting to the 6/14 wedding in Dallas.
Greg is headed toward April 30th, the last day of school, then hoping for graduation on May 8th. We'll see if 'the gears' keep working for the next 8 days before we buy confetti for the parade!
I (bob) was in Clarkston til midnight last night, assisting a family that is trying to adopt a young niece from C. Amer.ica. She witnessed the murder of her mom and 4 brothers over a year ago; we're trying to get her a refuge visa. Need prayer on that; way too much rouge tape.
Also needing prayer for Ram.ona in Hondu; had successful surgery a week ago, but at age 65...some complications.
PTL that Norm got back to USA ok on Satur.
Also...we had about 70 people in our yard for the 'reception' for Juan and Amy last Saturday, inclu. about 20 Caucasian-Amer! Other 50 folks from about 20 countries. PTL for that Heavenly variety.
March 31st. Nobody can accuse me of spending too much time doing reports or preparing sermons! Been way too busy, which of course is no guarantee of getting anything done for the Kingdom of Jesus. He's been working thru us wimps though. For example, two days ago an Ecuadoran 'fix-it' man came with me to look at a couple repair needs at an Ethiopian home. He didn't have time to do the jobs; just gave me advice on how to. Later in the day I picked up one of the teens (Jedediah) from school and asked him to help me do one job at his house: the stove. His mom has been cooking with just one burner for the past year. We determined to change that to 4! After an hour of no success, it dawned on me that we hadn't prayed for God's help. So we three (inclu. mom Negis) prayed at that moment. During the prayer God gave me an idea which we tried five minutes later; it worked, of course. Within ten minutes we had all 4 burners working and Negis was ecstatic. The next day we had the plumbing fixed up in the two showers. Seeing her yesterday, I told her that now her kids would be really clean and fat. PTL.
Thank God for funds now available for Ramona's surgery...hopefully this week. Pls pray for her healing. The only pro medic who heals is the Great Physician. Everybody else just practices.
JANUARY 28
Pls pray with us for a 65 yr. old woman, Ramona, in Honduras. She was hit by a cycle in July, and sustained compound fractures in her left leg. She finally had it set and treated ten days ago, but has a serious infection. She's nonetheless delighted at the possibility of walking again.
Early January was great, spending a few days w family up in Sheboygan. Mom, at 90, is as sweet as ever. Was glad to get to cemetary w sis Carol, remembering Matt. He wasn't there tho! No frostbite, pain, or heartache in Heaven.
Christmas was glorious, espec. our Dec. 23 at our home, hosting believers and non, from various M.Eastern countries. We were delighted at the Dec. 22nd arrival of Amy's fiancee, Juan Terrazas, driving from Dallas. Lots of plannin' going on for the big day: June 14th.
Nov. 13th. TODAY I'm celebrating 43 years as an adopted child of God. I'm forever grateful, of course!!! Mere 'words' are totally wimpy to express how wonderful, how beautiful, how sweet it is...to Belong to the Creator and Sustainer of life, the Lover of our Soul, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Thank you again, dear Sharon and Portland friends, for simply, clearly and wonderfully inviting me to accept Christ as Savior. It was His time and place.
Oct 21, 2014 Just got back from Honduras a couple days ago. Not in a zillion years could 'words' adequately express how impactful the trip was, so i'll try a few highlights.
Our med team of 6 (led by Dr. J. Green) treated 200 patients in 4 days, including sharing the gospel with almost all the 200. Seven people came to Christ, and hopefully many others were inspired to renew faith in Him. We were immensely inspired by G and C who have served faithfully there for many years.
We were also inspired by national believers who daily are 'thrown to the lions'.
We were saddened by first hand stories of violence. Hopefully I won't forget those faces and names.
ONE IN PARTICULAR: a 50 yr. old woman hobbled to the clinic. She has a compound fracture in her right leg, since a car accident of three months ago. She doesn't have the $4000. for surgery. She can't sit down, and can barely walk...relegated to a life of pain, on her floor. Can anybody help? If you are willing and able, pls let me know. We can find a way.
We were accompanied by armed guards the entire week, as gang (covert and overt) activity is endemic. It's grievous to think about; much harder to describe. Beyond imagination.
Oct. 13. SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras. Today, Day 1 of our medical outeach, was supercalifragilisticincredible! Together w several Honduran friends, our 6 person team provided medical and pastoral care to 38 dear people.
At 9 a.m., a young mother brought her malnourished infant girl and toddler son who arrived w the grumpies. BECAUSE OF MY VAST MEDICAL SKILL-SET, my first job was to dispense worm meds to everybody! (chewable) Thankfully, he bought in to my cinnamon-gum strategy, then took the pill.
My Main job was to share the gospel with each patient as they waited for the doc. An elderly man, Fernando, arrived at lunch time. He's nearly blind and disabled from a car accident 2 years ago. He's a believer. As I devoured some scrumptious rice n beans, he talked nonstop, as if no one ever 'hears' him. He had no clue that I understood about 5 percent of what he was saying! After about 15 minutes, I interrupted him and began to describe Heaven as a painless Haven for all who come humbly to Christ. He listened intently, quietly. Seeing Fernando's eyes turn from pain to peace is, in itself, well worth this trip.
All patients had been examined and most prescriptions filled, so we began to 'close up shop'; then Bernarda got off a 3-wheeled taxi. We quickly got her to Dr Green. After her med needs were cared for, she came back to our triage room. As always, I presented the gospel, followed by the question: "If you would die today, would you go to Heaven, or hell, or maybe you're not sure?" She immediately responded that she would go to hell, as she hadn't received Christ into her life. She was READY. In English, I prayed the sinner's prayer. My high school agnostic-partner clearly translated into Spanish, sentence by sentence. Without prompting, Bernarda repeated his words, sentence by sentence, prayerfully, clearly, purposefully. No tricks. Just God's time and place. My translator, Andre, was excellent in translating the sinner's prayer. I'm hoping that he will pray it soon.
Oct. 10. Lord willing, I am set to fly tomorrow to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. I will be part of a medical mission trip there for a week. Please pray that God will use us to heal spirit, soul, and body among beautiful people of that great nation. John 10: 1-10.June 14

Tues. Feb. 4. PRAISE GOD that Amy had a wonderful ministry in Mexico, and arrived back in Texas this morning. She heads to Houston on Friday w the same YWAM team for inner city work there. We're so PROUD of her. Check out her blog at sharingHISlove@weebly.com .
Tues. Jan. 28. We got an inch of snow here in Atlanta, but roads soon became total ice. I,bob, went out about 10pm to see if anybody needed help. I met a Frontera restaurant manager (from Uruguay) who'd been stuck for a while, so we walked about 1 km back to my house and Mary gave her some soup and our guest room. I went back out about 11pm and found another couple who were in the ditch, so I brought them home too, for hot chocolate and couches! They're from Peru; Richard is a professional photographer. So, praise God for three new friends.
Dec. 25 At the first Christmas, Jesus was born in a barn; no room at the Inns. On Christmas Day 2013 in Monroeville, AL., I was privileged to meet a teen named Michael. He's never met his dad. His mom had been sleeping in her car, but recently was taken into the family of Phil and Becky Snyder, coordinators of Celebrate Recovery in Monroeville. I took Michael shopping on the 25th (good day not to have to shop); nothing was open except BP. He gladly got some snacks and pop, and I took him to the home of Sarah Jones and her twin brother who are in 6th grade, as is Michael. He had just moved to Monroeville two days before and didn't know anybody.
Why write about Michael? He's a sweet young man. He's been beaten up by circumstances, but wisely has not wasted those sorrows: he's receptive to the love of Jesus. Michael inspires me. Perhaps he can do the same for you.
Dec. 18. I prayed with men from Somalia, India, Mexico and Central America as we 'resurrected' a beatup BMW for a local pastor. THAT was awesome.
Dec. 1 As we begin a new month, reflecting back on the Nov. 8th typhoon, I am still seeking God. Should I go there asap? If so, with whom? I could go alone, as I'm never alone. I don't fear the pain and unknown challenges. I only fear becoming lukewarm in my love for Jesus. Dec. 27 update: it appears that I won't be assisting in those typhoon disaster-relief efforts in the foreseeable future. Amy is praying about doing so, after completing YWAM training in February.
Nov. 22-29 Greg and Bob left to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving break. It was so good to see family as well as ministry partners in Milwaukee and Sheboygan. It was heart-wrenching, but it was nonetheless important to assist my sisters in helping mom get settled in a nursing home (on Dec. 5th) where she could get physical therapy every day.

ABOUT THIS WEBSITE............................
WHY the "gutsy God " ??? HE loved us to death.
He gave all people a free will, thereby allowing mankind to curse His name every second of the day, or humbly receive forgiveness of sins through the Carpenter and begin to live today.
At the moment in eternity past when the Almighty decided to create man, He knew we'd prefer darkness to light. He knew Adam would rebel, that Cain would kill his own brother, etc.. God didn't desire worship from robots or puppets on strings, so He made us with a free will...knowing that 'religious leaders' would lead a riot to crucify the Son of God.
How do you know that the President of the universe is nonetheless intimately, infinitely committed to you? EASY: you can trust the Person who died for you.
At that crux of time and space, Jesus said: "It is finished." (John 19:30) The job is done, complete, perfect. The PRICE has been paid. Don't mock God by throwing in your two cents.
If nothing else, believe this: JESUS ROSE FROM THE GRAVE!!! Easter is not about the bunny. It's about the most profound fact of history. God did it. The evidence is all around us. But it takes humility to see it.
David the Psalmist wrote "Taste and see that the Lord is good." (34:8). Receiving Jesus is adoption, salvation, soul insurance...all we need. The warranty is good, as long as you sign it, and let Him sign you. Your guaranteed WINNING LOTTERY TICKET is intractably, irrefutably, totally free.
"The LORD is good; His mercies are everlasting, and His truth endures forever." (Psalm 100:5)
You know (or you can know) that...when we can't see God's scars, or trace His face, or hear His voice, we can still know that Jesus rose from the grave. That's all we need to know. Him.
