GOD is...
calm | "care-less" | elegant | faithful | happy | kindred | optimistic | passionate | valiant | vulnerable

God is elegant

God is the Gentle Shepherd and Perfect Host. He is gracious and graceful, distinguished and devoted, holy and humble.

The Lamb willingly waded into our sin cesspool to spare us the eternal agony. His courteous bearing defines elegance forever, incarnating grace and truth for you, me, everybody (John 1:14-18).  He easily surpasses our most daring daydreams of what God is like.

This President of the Universe visited us for 33 years.  In the subsequent century, millions allied with Him (as sheep among wolves), spelling martyrdom for many.  His magnanimous and majestic embrace was more desirable than the passing fancies of this world or "the pleasures of sin for a season", the same choice that Moses had made (Hebrews 11:24,25).  Why eat junk food for a few decades if you can have God's bounteous buffet forever?

JHWH (Exodus 3:14) did NOT disclose his imminent arrival to horoscopers, or crystal ballers.  (It's not that he doesn't like fruitcake n nuts.)  He sent advance notice to patriarchs and prophets for 2000 years, including 300 specifics on his birth location, hometown, occupation, life, death, and resurrection.   Upon arrival, He allowed a news release by a "great company of heavenly host...saying Glory to God in the highest, and peace to men of good will" (Luke 2:15).  Not ostentatious or showy.  Spectacular!

He did NOT choose a Mayo Clinic or a John Hopkins Hospital with the finest physicians imaginable.  He immortalized stable simplicity and manger slumber, by His glorious presence.   "Silent night, holy night; all is calm; all is bright...sleep in heavenly peace."  His peaceful presence changes everything, and beautifies everyone who comes in childlike faith; (Matthew 18:1-4).

As a young person, He did NOT go along with the crowd.  He quietly cut a new trail by BEING different (strong and wise) in order to make a difference; Luke 2:40-42,52.

The Prince of Peace is NOT provincial.  He honored all people, including pretentious followers, who moments later "picked up stones to stone him"; John 8:31,59.  He then disappeared into thin air which they found extremely frustrating.  (How do you assassinate the air!)

KING Jesus did NOT require pomp and circumstance!  He allowed a "street woman" to wash his feet with repentant tears, and dry them with her hair; Luke 7:37-50.  He welcomes all.  That's just who He is: JHWH, the eternal, wonderful, faithful Father (Exodus 3:14).

The Son of Man did NOT lead with the steel fist of religion.  He wouldn't even break "a bruised reed"; Isaiah 42:3.  He led by love.  On a Sabbath day, He healed someone who had a withered hand; Mark 3:1-6.  He knew that the "religious wicked" would be incensed; that they would one day nail His hands.  But He led by love anyhow.

This CEO did NOT step on people's feet;  He washed them.   24 smelly ones, in fact (John 13).  Nothing showy; He knew who He was and where He was going (13:3,4,5,12).  Then He led them in a song (Matthew 26:30).  The gracious guide, courageous captain, and faithful friend.  24 hours later he was dead.  But just for three days; you can't keep the Boss down!

He's the gutsy God, the elegant LORD of Lords and KING of Kings (Rev. 19:16).
