GOD is...
calm | "care-less" | elegant | faithful | happy | kindred | optimistic | passionate | valiant | vulnerable

God is faithful

"You don't throw a life away just 'cause it's banged up a little."  (theme of Seabiscuit, a true story)

GOD doesn't throw anyone away either.  Exhibit A: the story of 'the prodigal son' (Luke 15:11-31).  Check out verse 20.   The guy wasted his life, had to steal food from pigs, and repents.  He heads home.  "When he was still a long ways away, THE FATHER SAW HIM".  How was that possible?  It was possible because the father, a God symbol, desperately missed his son, and proactively waited for his return in order to LOVE him again.

"The father saw him, and WAS FILLED WITH COMPASSION for him."  God sees you and me.  He knows everything about us.  (Ouch)  BUT it doesn't matter.  He loves us.  It doesn't matter how many times we've messed up.  HE hasn't changed.  He is still passionately in love with us.  Fact is, He loved us to death, long before our birth.  God is nuts about us.  If no one else is, no worries.

The father "ran to his son".  God ran.  God is never frantic but He runs to us in time of need, traversing the universe in a millisecond.  Usually quicker.  He reminds us He's here, standing at the door EXCITED to bring healing, joy, peace to any life.  A broken and contrite heart is never despised, but is intimately loved and restored; Psalm 51:1,17.

GOD doesn't throw anyone away.  God throws His arms around us.  The father "threw his arms around him"; Luke 15:20.  The father didn't stand at arm's length, stretched out like a stick, holding his nose from the pig odor.  He wrapped his arms around him, stench and all.  This is noble majesty, the awesome God, not only living on planet earth for 33 years, but wrapping HIS huge arms around us, from conception and into eternity, forever rejoicing that we would come to Him.

The angels rejoice when one sinner repents.  Where do they get that passion?  From the Father.  They merely observe His boundless joy when a child returns to Him.  The angels are not deep thinkers. (Sorry, fellas).  They merely mimic the Faithful Father.

"This is what the LORD says: 'Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom, or the strong man boast of his strength, or the rich man boast of his riches.  But let him who boasts, boasts in this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, declares the Lord.' "  Jeremiah 9:23,24

Prayer: Thank you, dear God, that you're the boss, and such an awesome one.  Please do a miracle in my life, take me into your strong arms, cleanse me from my sin, fill me with your dear Holy Spirit.  In the name of Christ, the King.
