For Prayer Warriors.
Feb. 18.  PLEASE pray for Norman (above), our next door neighbor, dear friend, and brother.  He belongs to God, and knows that his true home is Heaven.  In September, he had a brain tumor removed, but his headaches are back for the past two months; as of yesterday, another medical test shows additional challenges that will need a miracle for healing.  God does this all the time.  Pls pray that today will be Norm's time.
Feb. 9, 2012
Once again, we're approaching a crossroads in our ministry.    Pls pray that we will have wisdom to decide well.
Also, several close friends have major health needs; pls pray with us for:
1. Mrs. Carol Lord, in Birmingham.  She was Greg's elem. school principal for a year there.  Pray that she will totally recover from a car accident.
2. Jan Cowles, my dear bro in Denver; needs to be DONE WITH cancer.
3. Mrs. Charlotte Pulfrey; recovering from recent surgery in Bham where docs 'practiced' medicine, but blew it big time.
4. my sis in Wisc, (Mary Depiesse) who fell a couple weeks ago and royally messed up her left wrist; lots of pain, etc.. Needing stiches to get OUT on Tues. Feb. 14.  Pray for healing and effective therapy.

Dec. 29.  Pray for friends who think they need to get drunk then drive on Dec. 31st.
Also, pls pray for Amy as she starts her 'Student Teaching' practicum on January 9th.
Dec. 6  HI friends.  In our short term mission trips to RGBI in the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas, I found a kindred spirit in pastor Franc Ortega, formerly employed in the printshop at the Bible institute.  I received the following email from him yesterday, requesting prayer for his dear wife.  Please stand with us for this family.
"... The reason for this note is to kindly request your prayers concerning my dear wife, Mary Ortega. Although her severe headaches somewhat subsided for a couple of weeks, they are back in full force. They are sharp and have remained for the past two weeks, daily and throughout night and day. She has already seen two doctors. They have ordered blood work but they are still inconclusive as to the reason. Now they have referred her over to a neurologist and we are trying to push up her December 30th appointment to anything sooner. The added concern is a tingling on her finger tips of both hands. She’s already got an appointment at MD Anderson set for Dec. 13. We are hoping for a good birthday for her on Dec. 22. Eternally grateful to you, Franc Ortega.  Romans 11:36" (Dec. 29 update: Mary is doing better, but still needs prayer for total healing.)
Nov. 28th: please check out my home page to get prayer needs, especially for Carlyle.
Also, pls pray for Amy as she spends a week in BIRMINGHAM,AL., in mid-December seeking job opportunties in education (effective June 2012).
Hey friends, I'm headed to Asia tomor a.m. (oct. 20th).  Pls pray that I will be a bold, celebrative, and fruitful witness as well as effective evangelism trainer to 200+ M workers there.  Back in USA, Lord willing, by November.
(Nov. 27: the trip was amazing, strengthening local believers to stand in grace and truth in challenging communities.)
Sept 17.  So sorrrrry for being so behind on this page.  Some urgent needs for prayer are victims of cancer that God has brought to us, including:
a. our next door neighbor, Norm.  Doctors double-checked his heart which they suspected had a problem, but they determined this week that his heart is great.  Please pray that his brain tumor will disappear.  Oct. 19th update: surgery went well two weeks ago; needs full healing and able to get back to work by Nov. 1st.  Nov. 27 update: doing well, able to work some; still has headaches.
b. Zayda, our 6 year old friend, whose parents are Honduran.  Her condition is similar to Norm's. Oct. 19th update: she's on meds; hopefully, prayerfully they'll work.  IF not, she'll need to get an MRI in Honduras in December and her family can't afford the USA price tag to get it done.
c. our LEI colleague of 15 years, Lolly, needs prayer.
d. my 50 yr. bud, Jan Cowles.  Oct. 19th update: he just started his second round of chemo.  Needs healing from cancer in lung and liver.

Sept. 12 Pls pray for my friend "M" as he seeks Gods' guidance re: continued ministry in closed countries.
May 28th.  Praise God that Mary got in safely from Manila last night.
PLS pray with us for
1. guidance in important decisions this week;
2. Amy, in her last week of the semester at Faith Academy in Manila;she's a marvelous 'sub' during that crunch time; pray too for her visit to Davao for a few days on June 2, then back to USA on June 9th.
May 14.  Please pray for:
1. David and Martha, Sudanese who are losing their home this month; can't make payments.
2. Leticia, who has cancer.  The treatments (injections) damaged her liver, so they were stopped.  Also, her veins are now damaged.  She also lost her home two weeks ago.
3. Louisiana 'neighbors', up to 25,000 that will have their land/homes flooded this weekend. If it were 'an act of God', some could have insurance payments.  But because the Army Corps of Engineers is doing it, no insurance. (per USA today, May 14th).  PRAY that all these dear rural and small town people who ardently and wholeheartedly put their trust and hope in Christ alone who rose from the dead.

May 11; Mary and Amy arrived safely in Manila.  Amy will be serving at Faith Academy in Manila (her alma mater) to finish out the school year as substitute teacher.  Mary will be gone only 18 days, primarily to finish off the jobs I left undone during my Feb. visit.  Please pray for their safety in travel and fruitfulness in service.

April 26 I'm embarrassed that I've made so few entries on this page, and so seldom.  FORGIVE ME, those of you who love to pray, knowing that your heart can move God's heart Who holds the hearts of kings (and everyone) in His massive hands.
SOME PRAISES:
1. We invested a lot in Easter and preparations.  God was good to use us to see people come to Christ and be radically changed, forever.
2. During our Easter supper here at home, we hosted refugees from Iraq and Congo, as well as Hispanic immigrants.  Elodi (from Congo) asked that we pray for her job application the next day (Monday the 25th); we did, God answered!  She got it. This is HUGE for her, since she lost so much (inclu. health) in the January fire.
PRAYER NEEDS:
I'm being selfish about these...though they're urgent this week!
1. I have an eating disorder.  I really want to get this under control.  It doesn't help that my dear spouse loves to cook and excels at it!  I can't blame her though for 5 and 6 helpings of stuff that I pack away.
2. We need wisdom in the next 4 days, as we must tell our landlord on Satur, Apr 30, if we will continue to rent here after June 30th.  We don't WANT to move, but are willing to.  We have shared gospel invitations numerous times with our neighbors and thankfully some have come to Christ.  Maybe it's time to move in order to sow seed where others here in Atlanta still haven't experienced an incarnate, gospel witness.  Our present house is also 30 minutes from Greg's school, so we're trying to use our resources of time, energy, finances, etc. in the best possible way.
March 16
This is not meant to be a cop-out...but prayer can make a difference NOW...somehow...to the desperate survivors of the Japan tsunami.  The situation seems hopeless in some areas.  It would take a miracle a minute to keep people alive and return them to good health and the happy routines of life, like drinking a glass of clean water, breathing fresh air, staying warm on a cold day, etc...
January 17
Though we are incontrovertibly honored to share life with refugees, we are grieved to meet so many 'on the edge', including Elodi whose apartment was gutted by fire last night.
Pastor Enrique (Hondurian) and I enjoyed a burrito lunch today, after which he showed me photos of his three young kids that he hasn't seen in ten years.  He has residency in American, but his wife and children aren't able to get visas.  He pastors Iglesia Uncion Divina which shares its building with Open Table EFC in Chamblee.  Though he's worked in construction here the past 8 years, he resigned his job last month in order to do home visitation daily and street evangelism.  In the weekly Hispanic newspaper in Chamblee (La Vision), there is a full page ad of eight witches in Chamblee, but no ads of any church.  Buford highway is truly international and truly dark.  Pray that we may pierce the darkness together.

I (bob) will be headed to LEI Tulsa on Jan. 23-25 for annual strategy planning sessions.  Pray that we will hear from the Lord, and for safety for Mary and Greg here in Atlanta.

Nov. 28 While interacting with refugees this week, it struck me again how desperate life can be for those families who have no income.  We're privileged to serve as volunteers with World Relief here once again, and are so glad that three WR employees work fulltime in trying to find jobs for refugees.  But many more jobs are needed.  Please pray with us about this.  The temptations for quick and BIG bucks through prostitution and drug-dealing are readily available to many refugees.  The darkness is strong.  Pray that the light and life of Christ will shine even stronger.
Nov. 27 Thankyou for praying for our Thanksgiving dinners today.  We were able to host/feed/bless and generally goof off with about 70 refugees today from Burma, Nepal, Sudan and other countries.  It was a privilege to love them in Jesus name.  We couldn't provide a full Thanksgiving Dinner for everybody, but we sure had a ton of fun in games and other activities that fed hearts.

Nov. 26
THANKyou for praying for our Texas-Mexico travels these past 7 days.  All went well.  We were able to share Christ with many people, as well as challenge some to serve God fulltime.
